46 East 70th Street: UES Explorers Need Your Help

Unlike most other clubs in New York, the Explorer's Club is rather willing to let us non-explorers have a look around - and even help restore the place!

The club is currently operating two restoration campaigns for its 70th Street townhouse: The first is a brick-by-brick preservation effort, which allows anyone to donate $50 bucks to help restore a brick (progress shown above); the second is a window-restoration effort, whereby - again - just anyone can donate $25,000 to completely renovate one of the building's elaborate Gothic windows. We currently find the subway system to be an exploration in and of itself, so the idea of supporting astronaughts, hunters, and other adventure-seekers is rather appealing to us.

The Club's website also gives you a tour of the joint, which - unsurprisingly - is practically littered with stuffed animals and animal husks. The polar bear on the left is definitely our favorite. See more images after the jump.
