Before & (an Alleged) After on CPW

Architectural Digest released a dandy little before-and-after of a Central Park West duplex. The renovation was executed by the glossy, competent, and stylized firm of Shelton, Mindel & Associates. And even though the firm is capable, it isn't fully clear if this alleged 'after' actually exists.

Sure, there's a change. But we don't like calling something a "before-and-after" until there's blood on the walls. The photos clearly show that a lot of the molding remained in tact - which is great because old molding makes life worth living. But the article also says the firm didn't even touch the bathrooms or kitchens either. Again, what they really did to warrant the 'B&A' issue remains unclear.

Perhaps we're just bitter that some people can renovate apartments without bloodshed.

Clockwork Reinvention, Architectural Digest, February 2010. More photos after the jump.
